Technology for the Core - Apps and Tools for the Literacy Curriculum Viewing Strand
Suter and Comer (2014) defines visual literacy as “…the
comprehension and use of images, including the ability to think, learn, and
represent ideas in visual form…images no longer just accompany or reinforce
text…the opposite is true: text is added to reinforce the image.”
Visual literacy is demonstrated by three distinct
tools. They are Web 2.0 tools, iPad apps
and Infographic tools. Web 2.0 tools and iPad apps are self-explanatory.
However, “infographic tools are just what their name implies; graphics &
information” (Suter and Comer, 2014).

In preparing for my Master's in Educational Technology, I have used some of these web tools, iPad and Infographic Tools. Animoto is one of the tools that used for my assignments, I use the iPad and some of the apps, and the piktochart. I have found most of these tools to be user friendly.

I am so glad that you shared all of these websites for Infographics and web tools! I have started to use infographics in the courses I design, they are so great for students of all ages. Text and images are supporting each other and they always are more effective than one over the other. I can't wait to visit these sites to explore more tools for infographics!
