English-Language Learners with Scannable Technology
By
Monica Burns
This
article was of interest to me because it talks about using Scannable technology
in the classroom. The article stated how Scannable technology provides
opportunities for students to have quick access to various types of resources
to work with in and out of the classroom.
According to
Burns (2014), “This could be a tool to help them make learning of the content
being taught in a lesson, or it could be resources to help them gather
background information before starting a new unit of study.” These Scannable devices could be used as an
interactive word wall, for Scannable vocabulary list, to build background
knowledge and audio vs written directions.
Scannable can be used to connect families to resources.
Stronger readers
can use Scannable to practice listening skills while English language learners
can use Scannable. Scannable items would make unique Christmas gifts for our
children.
